Program Description

This program offers a valuable series of lectures designed to meet the needs of the practicing nurse anesthetist.

The focus on Saturday will be on clinical applications of information related to managing epidural catheter complications, dealing with problems associated with the anesthesia machine, preventing cognitive dysfunction following anesthesia, issues of concern regarding the prevention and treatment of aspiration, and choices of analgesic drugs and techniques for the laboring patient. An update on the role of NBCRNA in certifcation and re-certification of CRNA's will also be presented.

The Sunday AM session reviews the problems associated with managing anesthesia for the diabetic patient, forecasting the role and expectations for nurse anesthetists in the future, and a discussion of the current challenges facing the AANA.

Ample time is provided for faculty/participant interaction.
